The English Whisky Company, built at St. George’s, Norfolk, began their first production of single malt whisky as recently as 2006. Built by the Nelstrop family, this distillery was designed with the purpose of producing premium English Malt Whisky.
Norfolk offers two of the most important ingredients required to produce whisky; the cleanest and purest water of the Breckland aquifer situated deep beneath their distillery and barley, Norfolk being one of the leading producers of barley in the world.
Most of the oak casks are sourced from America and have been used in the maturation of bourbon. Other kinds of casks used in maturation are sherry and wine casks.
