Macallan located a very rare bottle of 1861 from a private collection and presented it to the Whisky Maker, Bob Dalgarno to replicate it. The whisky, bottle and label were all recreated. The original bottle was handblown, but the Master Glassmakers created a mould and inlcuded the flaws of the original bottle. No two bottles are the same and have bubbles, scratches and flat spots on
The nose displays citrus, dried fruits with spice and is lightly floral with hints of toffee, wood smoke, apple, light oil and malt.
The palate reveals spice, light lemon-citrus, resin and lightly smoked oak flavours with hints of toffee re-emerging.
Lingering slightly sweet aftertaste of spice, subtle smoked wood and malt.
